But as Piotr has already explained, the u's of, say, Russian <kupit'>
and <kupat'> are of _diffrernet_ origin: Proto-Slavic *u and *o~
(nasalized o) just happened to merge in many (but not all, eg, not in
Piotr's) Slavic languages. Feel free to not respect the linguists (if
there are any) who claim that "kupiti 'to buy' and kupati 'to wash' are
just deverbatives of the same root".
