Just think, Alex - when was Homer written? (about 750 BC) If there was a
Trojan war, when would it have been? (500 - 300 years earlier). So he did
not have "the situation of their time" before his eyes. Homer uses the
words used by Greeks of his time for those places, otherwise he would be
incomprehensible. They may or may not be identical to what anyone else
called them 400 years earlier. But they cannot be taken as proof that a
non-Greek speaking tribe did use those names.
