Ocean

I read in Peter Ellis's book "The Celtic Empire" that Ephoros of Cyme
(quoted by Strabo) and Ammianus Marcellinus said that when the Celts
began their expansion they came from "the outermost isles beyond the
Rhine." What can we make of this? ANd there's also the Aesti, mentioned
by Tacitus as speaking a language like the British, and the Baltic island
Abalum.

regarding the Ocean:

1. What did Homer and the Greeks mean by "Oceanus"? I am assuming the
Black Sea, although my encyclopedia says the North Sea in Northern Europe
(I don't know why).

2. Why was the sea around the British Isles called "The Hyperborean
Sea"?
