Hi Gerry,

In which work has Cavalli-Sforza done that? He is not a linguist but
a geneticist- I was unaware that he originated any linguist groupings
himself. Anyway, I thought his conclusions grouped Japanese and Ainu
speakers more closely genetically with North Asian populations,
rather than with Austronesian-speaking populations, which he grouped
with other South Asians.
