It's post-mediaeval -- a Renaissance story: good old "Hunibald" -- see my response to Alex. The ghost of Trithemius must be rubbing his hands to see his concoction in worldwide circulation. When he was still alive, Emperor Maximilian (himself, according to Trithemius, descending from Marcomir the Cimmerian, prince of Troy [if my memory serves me well]) desired to see the original of Hunibalds chronicle, not yet ready, Trithemius ran away to avoid exposure.

Pretty closed-minded aren't you, Piotr, not trusting genealogies
on the Web? Marcomir the Cimmerian, ancestor of the
Sicambrians, was (if I count right) 39th in descent from Adam and
49th ancestor of Charlemagne:

This and numerous similar lists on other sites, with wildly
displaced historic names, really don't look like contemporary
inventions to me. None of the sites I've checked bother with
sources, but I'd guess early Mediaeval. Anybody recognize some
mythic history of the Franks?
Since the Sicambrians turned up, has that name been discussed on
Cybalist (or elsewhere)?
