Also, who knows if their ever were ANY Trojans migrating to or
settling in Italy and intermarrying with Italic peoples. For all we
know, Virgil could have just taken the Trojan tale from the Greeks to
make a good story for the Romans. I think the Norse, or Snorri Sturluson
or whoever his source was, as well as Geoffrey Monmouth or his source,
also took this Greek tale and fitted in with their own legends to make a
good story. I think we can see this common borrowing from the Iliad and
Oddysey, and it's interesting when you compare some of the similarities
between the Aeneid and Intro to the Deluding of Gykfi and certain
parallels.
