Alex, could the similar toponyms and hydronyms mentioned by Strabo be
due to either Trojan settlement in Thrace, or, more likely, Thracians
settling in Asia Minor? I'm thinking the Bithynian Thracians. Surely it
wouldn't be unusual for them to name rivers,cities, etc. after rivers,
cities, etc. in their original homeland? And tribes with the same name
could have been again Thracian tribes who migrated to Asia Minor. I do
believe their is archaeological evidence of local Thracian influence or
settlement during certain phases of Troy.
