To what "earlier"? What? Besides: to what earlier
"[kuman]"-like occurrences (if there were any) do you
want to connect the Romanian language and the Romanian
nation? Where did exist *Romanian* settlements having
toponyms based on "coman-/cuman-" prior to the Cuman
invasion of South-East Europe?

The opposite is true: it is you who maintains that
those toponyms aren't Romanian, but ancient (God
knows what: Thracian or Celtic :).

If it is more than clear to you, then why on earth
don't you mention your being aware of the fact that
these simple *Romanian* words (contained in the
vocabulary of any Romanian clodhopper) could have
been the natural generators of those toponyms?
(Those prehistoric and ancient times are too
fascinating, aren't they? ;=)
