My point was that root of shtrëng-oj is shtreng- (which becomes
shtrëng- when unstressed). Geg has ë in the stressed forms, so it
can't be from *strang- (which would give Tosk shtrëng-, Geg
*shtrãng-). And *shtreng- is compatible with a loan from Latin
stringere (East.Rom. streng-/strendz^-).
