I'm not sure I understand the formation of khímaira. It appears to be
from *g^himr.ya < *g^himrih2, wehere we can explain syllabic /r./ as a
Greek development after *-ih2 had become *-ya. But the masculine form
is khímaros. *g^himr.-os?
