[Moeller] sorry?George, you are speaking about the latin world
lumen which you have looked for in your dictionary?I took a
look now too in my latin dictionary and there is no meaning of
world at all. Just clear, licht, eye-light, life, hmm.. so ,
so in this case they suppouse rom. "lumina" come from lumen
and rom. lume ... see below

.. and rom. lume has to be a linguistic calc like in slavic
where lume /lumina and in your ukr. example svit/svitlo
