A temporary farewell

To the many friends on list and off; found here and treasured,
and even the occasional adversary: I am off again and have to take a
break in transition. I am on the road soon and so must go; but I hope
to reestablish contact in the future. This list and the personal
correspondents that I have discovered and enjoyed so very much here for
several years have been invaluable to my own understanding of the
complexities of the Eastern Danube over time. I thank you all; for I
have learned so much from this association. I think the new year will
find me in Edinburgh ... but anything is possible. Good bye to you all
and to Bucharest ... growing with new energy even as I leave. Linguist
I will never be; but few efforts on the net have been so rewarding to
my own explorations and pursuit of knowledge.
Special goodbyes to Piotr, John C., Glen, Sergei, Chris,
Torsten, Adriana, the several Georges, Alex, Romanians scattered about:
see you all again soon, I hope.
George S.: Shecklers I will call them till the Olt river
trip..which never quite got done :-) The Polish "z", George, is part of
the problem with Romanian history IMO (sorry Piotr :-) ... and I hope
to change that. The "h" may not be bold..but there is no "anglo" z
either, and they just "ain't" Polish.
But refreshing: Muntenia mentioned in historical context..and even 10th
century Moldoveni (not Moldavians). I still owe you a 12th century
"Moldavian" reference Piotr..I never forgot..I just never found it
again..but George's 10th century use should render it negligible. :-)
Alex..don't ever quit.. :-)
C ya
