anyone be so dumb? Why don't you consult an English dictionary
before you start correcting people who know what they're
talking about? _Anguis fragilis_ (the basic meaning of the
word and the first one given by yourself below) is the Latin
name of the BLINDWORM, also known as a SLOWWORM, a legless
lizard, not a real snake.

[Moeller] i dont have an english dictionary here:-( And
blindworm told me just a " vierme orb" or in German BlindWurm.
A lizard is not a wurm. That was what I tought. Is a lizard a
worm?:-))And beside this the usual meaning is serpent or
better said viper. I even didnt knew that "naparca" as small
boat is still in use. And you talk about worms:))) Why did you
not said lizard? I should understood imediatly:-)Grrr.
blindworm, hehehheheeheh
But insead of this I will pay atention not so much to naparca
as bad guy or Peitsche or worm. I guess is of more interest
the meaning serpent and specialy this smal boat.. this smal
boat is very interesting inded.. But you will blame me I try
again to get more "apa" in my list. It is enough to be just
one, even if we have more:-)
About the map. The map is a publciation from an Atlas of
Ancient World which was published in 1877 in NewYork.by two
brothers ( german I guess). But so long I cannot give you name
and editure it is of no use. I will grab for . Thi stime I
found alone this map and the infos about, I do not need to
wait from someone else....
