That's right... since *-ix has been applied AFTER the *-n>*-r
change but BEFORE the loss of final vowels. At such a stage in MIE,
we had *-wer-�ixe with penultimate accent still in effect. At
that time, unaccented *-wer _did_ occur independently, that is,
until the loss of final vowels encouraged the formation of
vocalic resonants... hence later *-wr. We may note *wedo:r
(< *wet:ar-xe) which was formed at the same time.
