I'm not sure I am referring to the same seven stars, but I know the
Pleiades were called the seven stars. They are part of the Taurus
constellation.
In myth, Orion(not to dredge up an old topic,but...) chased the
Pleiades. Could this have a bearing to the Ophion/Eurynome story,
when Ophion encircled the dove's egg seven times? I think it is a
possible alternative to the 7 planetary spheres idea(Though obviously
the planetary spheres connection was drawn at some point,
regardless). And I believe the Pleiades were connected to doves.
According to good old Funk and Wagnalls Standard Dictionary of
Folklore Mythology and Legend, Greek and Egyptian temples were
oriented to their rising, and many cultures used the rising of the
Pleiades to mark the beginning of the new year.
