*****GK: In this case the explanation seems very
simple. "Yamna" (Ukr. ) or "Yamnaya" (Russ.) is just a
name archaeologists affixed to particular cultural
manifestations in southeast Europe. It merely goes
back to a Slavic word meaning "hole", chosen because
of some of the culture's burial characteristics. If I
remember correctly it's the Russian archaeologist
Gorodtsov who came up with the name.*****
