Some analyse it that way. *h1es-u- seems to be the original free form, and the corresponding neuter noun (assu 'good, health, luck' < *h1osu) is attested in Hittite. The composition form *h1su- became a prefix in some branches.

does that mean PIE *su- 'suus, proper, good' is *h1es-w- (that
is, 'to be' extended by w-suffix) etymologically?
