Lets not gloss over this Lemnos Pelasgian thing. Again, its not
important if he understood any other language than Ionian Greek. All
that is pertinent is that he was told that the language of Lemnos was
Pelasgian. Thus, the surviving text from Lemnos is an example of
their language, which is Pelasgian. Because of the close similarity
with the Lemnos text, Tyyrhenian is also a Pelasgian language. It
appears quit simple, I don't understand the confusion. The fact that
it is not possible to verify an affiliation between these and other
language groups called Pelasgian is, on this point, irrelevant.
Additionally, he actually wrote many times that he was being told
these things. Are you inferring that he independently ascertained
that the Lemnos people were Pelasgian? I believe on this point its
clear he did not.
