<doch> and <though> (of Norse origin, but related to OE þeah, cf. also Goth. þau, þauh 'than'), represent Germanic *þaux 'for all that', apparently consisting of some form of *to- 'it, that' plus *-kWe.

I suppose <donc> is indeed a simplification of <donques> = "de + onques/onc". Our Francophone members will surely know.

I looked in my Duden Herkunftswoerterbuch and it actually did not have an entry for 'doch.' After the shock wore off, I realized that 'doch' is probably cognate with the English word, 'though.' I doubt 'doch' and 'donc' are related. Perhaps donc is a contraction of some earlier romance form, d', de+ onc?
