The origins of the Universe from the element of Water were common
long before Thales of Miletus used this as the basis of his
Cosmology. It is also found in both Egyptian and Sumerian myths that
the world emerged from "The Deeps". In Sumerian Nammu was the face
of Chaos, and out of Nammu came Tiamat (The Deeps i.e. Salt Water)
and Abzu (The Abyss i.e. Fresh Water). The first act of creation was
the separation of Tiamat from Abzu. From them came Lahm and Lahmu
(Dark and Light), Anu and Ki (Sky and Earth) and then all the Anunaki
(The Gods), chief amongst them being Enlil, Lord Air.
It was Enlil who fashioned the Ark of the Aky out of Taimat's Ribs.
