Yes, the Boii left traces of their name from Italy to Bohemia (Baija-haima-). The Germanic tribes who drove them away from an area in Central Europe adopted the name Baija-warjos (Baiuvarii) 'inhbitants of the Boiic land).

Subject: [tied] Swantewit and *baija-ri:k

My apologies for touching on this subject again but I've had PC problems and couldn't respond.
I relied on my only reference to Swantewit as "Swanwhite" and you all have shown me that there is indeed a Slavic basis for the name.  Thanks.
Thanks to Piotr for showing a possible Germanic basis for Boiorix, *baija-ri:k.  In a historical atlas that I have it shows the early Bavarians as Bajuvars.  Is this possibly from the same root?
