Dear Izzy,

Excuse my being blunt, but this is a *linguistic* list. Though unmoderated, it should not be confused with Hyde Park's Speakers' Corner. The active members are doing their best to conform to certain formal standards and to maintain a decent level of discussion. "Anthropomorphic maps" could perhaps be discussed on a different forum, but I don't think this list is the right place for them, or for comparing "Artemis" with "rhythm" and "Diana" with "dance", or "canis" with "canal".

[Which said, I am going to *ignore* any further pseudolinguistic postings and I suggest other Cybalist members should do likewise. In the absence of moderation this is the only effective way to keep oddball intruders away. Of course if Izzy is willing to get down from his soapbox and talk sense, I cordially invite him to do so.]

Piotr

although there's some other possible traits:

The original abode of Hermes may have been Mt. Hermon, now on the
cease-fire line between Israel and Syria near Lebanon. He was
probably claimed as an "ancestor" by the Phoenician king Hiram,
who lived at the time of the Biblical kings David and Solomon.
I Kings 5:15 - 26.

I have "reconstructed" two anthropomorphic (body-part) maps,
one of [probably] Hermes in the mid-East and one of
[probably] Aphrodite in north Africa. Charts indicating the
correspondence between body-parts and geographic areas for
each of the "maps" are available by return email.
