Mediaeval (and in some respects, even modern-day) Japan had
Dumezilian tripartition in spades, right down to the priest-king (the
Emperor) and the warrior-king (the Shogun), the Samuri filling the
2nd function, the peasants the third. The pre-Columbian Central
Americas (Aztecs, Mayas, etc) seem to have been organized similarly.
Tripartition is not uniquely IE.
