Yes, but the theory that states IE D> Lusitanian R was formulated
after the study that you mention, and is today, I think, the most
accepted explanation of the meaning of REVA. Other proofs allow this:
The inscriptions which were found:
- in Larouco, referring a L R Maximo, which is Larauco Reo Maximo,
i.e., Larauco Deo Maximo, the Supreme God of Mont Larauco;
- in Galiza, referring a JUPITER LADICUS, this LADICUS is very close
to LARAUCUS: once again, the mutation D>R;
The inscription found in Cabeço das Fráguas ( one of the texts
written in what is probably Lusitanic, with the Latin alphabet )
helps this theory: there,it can be seen a REVA TRE(.?.) in a position
that possibly qualifies it as a Deity of the first function -
according to Dumézil - similar to JUPITER and ZEUS, thus receiving
the sacrifice of bovines, and that can be understood in the ritual
described by this inscription.
