Alright, so what you are all saying is that the Apocolypse is an IE-derived
myth then and nothing to do with native Semitic mythology? Or... are we to
take John's explanation of apocalyptic stories as simple social reactions
to large-scale strive and thus potentially not autochthonous to any group at
all. Hmm, so many ideas, so little time.

I could swear I've heard this idea somewhere before. Interesting, though. It
makes sense. I remember sitting through Bible readings thinking about this
Cain dilemma.

Wow! I can see I can learn something here. :) I'm a child in a candy store -
keep it comin'. Unfortunately I'm not yet familiar with Varuna but I'll
figure it all out eventually. What was Varuna's non-physical battle about?

Now, this Samson-Thunder connection... what's with the hair? Come to think
of it, I wouldn't be surprised if this haircutting thing has a deeper, more
pagan meaning (just as with the Tree of Knowledge). Is there a parallel IE
myth of seduction of *Dye:us or *PerkWnos here?

Wait, didn't somebody gloss something about a connection between "hair" and
"(water) waves" before? Something to do with water sprites?? Who on this
list mentioned this? Speak to me. This is getting juicy. Maybe this is more
of a Samson-*Nepo:t connection instead, or am I getting led down the wrong
path? Anybody know some good sprite stories?
