Iris, the winged messenger of gods -  we can find a paralell in Ugaritic mythology ... The sun-goddess Shapash was the messenger of Ba'al, as "The Torch of Gods". The figure of a goddess of Fire and Sun remind me Hestia, keeper of the Sacred hearth. Although being Zeus's sister, this goddess had pale role in Greek Myths. At Hekatonesia island, Iris was equated to Hekate, and like her sher was depicted bearing torches, so we have a closed circle. Would be HESTIA, IRIS and HEKATE different faces of the same goddess?
UGARITIC / GREEK
Ba'al / Zeus
Yamm / Poseidaon
Attrt (Yamm's consort) / Amphitrite or Aphrodite
Mot / Hades and Typhon
Shapash / Iris-Hekate-Hestia
