Informally? "Thou" in prayers is extremely formal, isn't
it?
No it is not. Just the contrary. This confusion is the primary reason all modern translations of the Bible and all modern prayer books have dropped the thou/thy/thine forms.When you pray to the Christian God, you use the 'informal', the pronouns you use with your loving father: thou, thy, thine. This is true for all languages with this distinction.
