Just as I suspected. So in the end, far too little evidence exists for a
relationship between *peku and *kwo:n to even be entertained. Do I
understand right? What would *pikos mean, anyway? "Spot" perhaps? :)
- gLeNBonne idée. Pikus' is a common cynonym in Polish (let me coin a learned word for a dog's name, we may need it on this list). But in the passage quoted above I'm being sceptical about *pIs- = *peku (a home affair within Slavic), not about *peku being related to *kuo:n (an IE problem).Piotr
