This was just the clarification I hoped for!
(I didn't believe Cumbrian borrowed words from Greek, I just compared teddera to tessares to show that this word wasn't just a "fanciful invention" and I don't know any Celtic language to compare with).
Does anyone on the List know about other such dialectal oddities? If you do, post a message.
