Hey, erudites, I suppose you both mean "Lemnian", i.e. the language of the Lemnos stele. Lesbian was a variety of Aeolic Greek (plus you know what). I'd be obliged if Glen developed his point a little. His telegraphic sentence makes little sense to me.


The salacious English-language jokes about the island of Lesbos and its denizens are old and rather tired. Admittedly, when Herodotus speaks of Lesbian workwomen, it's impossible to not roll your eyes, but Herodotus himself was never party to the joke.
