PIE *triplos and *tripleks

PIE *triplos yields the Latin triplus and the Greek triploos/triplous, while
PIE *tripleks yields the Latin triplex and the Greek triplax. Both forms
mean "triple, threefold", but is there a semantic difference between the two
forms?
