"The purpose of the Association for Written Language and Literacy (AWLL)
shall be the advancement of the study of writing and to enhance
communication and cooperation between researchers from different fields of
writing research primarily in Europe but also elsewhere in the world. The
Association brings together researchers from different disciplines such as
the fields of theoretical, historical and computational linguistics,
psycholinguistics and language acquisition and education."

They hold periodic conferences, the last one of which was on "Constraints in
