Why not just choose a properly functioning email client?

And just to head off some points likely to draw bickering :)

1 - the verizon.com email address may be easily forwardable to somewhere
else and not tied to that particular client
2 - even if it isn't, there are plenty of free and decent email services
such as yahoo itself and gmail. Not sure (as I rarely use my own gmail
account), but I think gmail can probably access the verizon.com email
directly using the POP settings.
