Why don't you see if _you_ can get a definition of "writing system" out of him?

It seems like a pretty basic desideratum for a discussion list that exists for the purpose of discussing writing systems!

We've been through this before. Neither of you is
going to agree on the definition of "writing system"
and neither of you is going to be convinced by the
other. So why don't we just agree to disagree
and drop this thread before it escalates?
