The last upgrade was at the end of 2003. It's Unicode 4.1 compatible, and
apparently has a new policy for unregistered use. The wording isn't quite
clear, but apparently there's a software timer which means you have to
save your work and re-start for extended jobs. Considering that Unipad is
almost $200* for a license, casual or infrequent users might be willing to
accept the inconvenience. As well, document size for editing and creation
is apparently still restricted for unregistered versions. *Quantity
discounts are offered.

As a viewer, it's unrestricted.

Details of the upgrade are at
<http://www.unipad.org/history/>.

I'm tempted to forward the message which announced the upgrade, but that
might not be welcomed by all. That link gives almost all the details.

Unipad has built-in (bitmapped) fonts, and about 60 keyboard layouts;
making your own keyboard layout is said to be easy.

New keyboards include Kannada, Dari, and Pashto. New complete scripts
include Glagolitic, Coptic, and Old Persian.

The whole download, including its fonts, is less than 3 MB.

My regards to all,
