No, they use in Christian contexts too. There's a book listed on my
Cool Bibliography (http://www.evertype.com/scriptbib.html) by
Margaret Bender which details the modern uses of the Cherokee script.

Yes, it is. So was ASCII, in its day, and Latin 1. The Universal
Character Set is a wonderful amd ambitious project, and it is
heartwarming to see its implementation and acceptance grow.
