I guess "unvoiced" is not formal, then; that's a risk an amateur Qalamite
takes, creating a seemingly-sensible term. Indeed, only in recent years
have I become properly aware of voiced and voiceless parts of speech (and
even, somewhat earlier, "continuous speech", in the context of computer
speech recognition).
