There is an indefinitely large number of "few months" within the past
decade.

This one's 8.6, the laptop is 9 (was 9.2 but something went awry). No
Unicode on either one. I have purchased additional RAM so I can run 10.3
Panther (which remains sealed in its box) on the laptop, but it won't be
installed until every bit of every job that's currently on it is done
with, so in case something goes wrong, I don't lose anything.
I don't know what you mean by "capable of working with fonts that
support edh and thorn." Of course I have several IE-oriented or
Gmc-oriented fonts that include edh and thorn (I made italic, bold, and
bold italic versions of them that are a lot better than those usually
seen in major publishers' works) and the system doesn't have the
slightest idea what glyph is represented in any particular character.
