If you see something different, that's not a font issue; it's an encoding issue. When you typed Ð and ð on your Mac, I saw those same characters on my Windows system because the software pieces from start to end knew how to handle the encoding issues. That doesn't always happen, especially with older software, and older versions of the Mac and Windows OSs.
