By a similar reasoning, one could argue that the so-said Arabic digits where
derived from this basic 7-segments pattern:

The entire pattern gives is the shape of digit 8, and all other digits were
obtained by removing one or more segments. So we have "demonstrated" that
the decimal numbering system is a sophisticated grammatogeny derived from
quartz wrist-watches...
