Hi,

Although I am a fan of the diversity of writing styles. when it comes to
education, I think keyboarding wins hands-down.

When my daughter was beginning grade school she was advanced in reading and
communicating but had difficulty writing. Her fine motor skills weren't up to
the task yet. Personally I think writing was too slow compared to the pace of
ideas she had. Her teacher was the one who suggested letting her keyboard
instead, after I mentioned she had some adeptness with computers.

Her handwriting still stinks, as does mine, but neither of us have much of a
need for it. And she was able to complete her assignments via keyboard which
she wouldn't have been able to do otherwise.

I don't object to cursive being taught to those that have a knack for it, but I
wouldn't like to see it insisted upon.

BTW, My daughter goes to M. I. T. now, which some of you will recognize as a
pretty decent university so lack of cursive writing hasn't hurt her.
