and only way of Getting Things Done in archaic scripts.

No, but you can use U+02BE and U+02BF, the MODIFIER LETTER LEFT and
RIGHT HALF RINGs, which serve the same function as Egyptological
alef and ayin. There is a proposal from Michael to encode the proper
characters, but until there's money it can't get progressed.
