I don't see any reason to make "suggestions as how to input Unicode Tamil".

There are only two possible ways of inputting Tamil: "logical order" and
"visual order". The former is commonly available on several system, the
second one less so, probably because it is less required by Tamil (it
wouldn't require rocket science to implement it, anyway).

Any other option, such as "syllabic input methods" or "using Thai"(!?), are
just reveries.

Definitely. You too do not use Unicode (your message is marked as
"Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1"), but this doesn't mean that
Unicode doesn't support English.
