In one respect that would help. It is hard to perceive what Tamil and
Ethiopic have in common that Cree does not. It seems subtle.

However, most people accept Cree as a syllabary. I do not feel that
the use of the term abugida is widely accepted for Cree yet. The Cree
themselves are not without opinions of their own on this matter.
