It seems that the appearance of many scripts is influenced by the nature
of the traditional tools used to write them, and sometimes the nature of
the surface on which they were written. Surely Ethiopic has a distinctive
appearance, so my question is, what influenced its look? Perhaps a special
kind of pen tip? Maybe just "evolved visual tradition", to try to coin a
term?
