The more recent show "Between the Lions" very consistently teaches reading
in terms of sounds. They have songs and whatnot about "short a" sounds,
"long e", vowel-combinations, etc etc (consonants are generally easier).

Forced off the air? By whom, the Whole Word Police? I think your views
on this topic may be starting to cloud your perception of reality...

know; my comment was an expression of general disappointment with most of
the media, and those who determine what is broadcast.
