Most interesting to know that there's a real-world example, and from
Africa, as well.
Although it would take another byte, maybe two bits per R, G, B primary
might suffice; I don't think one byte per primary color would make sense.
With two bits per primary, that leaves two unused bits; perhaps someone
who understands ordinary human color perception well could suggest
assigning those two bits to one or two of the three primaries to enhance
precision in defining them, according to visual requirements, just as the
US NTSC analog color TV standard (I and Q) was based on visual
requirements. (Sorry to mystify some people.)
