in 1959 a mormon student gave me a couple of books in the deseret alphabet,
and i was charmed. when i saw it described in coulmas' *encyclopedias*, i
was mortified that D&B had forgotten to include it in WWS.

i don't think the fonts are pathetic, tho; i think they're redolent of the
old west frontier.
