[---] UniPad (a program that greatly facilitates the handling of IPA symbols and other special characters) [---]
In this context I'd like to recommend to those of you who have Windows NT that you try the beta version of Keyman 5, which is the first version with Unicode support. Unfortunately, I don't have Win NT so I haven't tried it myself, but I've used earlier versions (3.2 and 4.x) of Keyman for quite a while, and it's a very good program. It allows you to define your own keyboard layout(s) in almost any way you want, and it integrates nicely in the Windows environment and works in the background, so that you can access all characters for which you have designed key combinations in all Windows programs in the same way. If you're interested, go to www.tavultesoft.com and read more about it.
