I assume you will manage somehow to preserve the archive too?

Preservation of the group archive on Archive Team requires first the agreement of group members, and second the action of our moderator, Robert Kirkpatrick.

Sending/Receiving email functionality is not going away, we can still communicate in this Yahoo group via any email client even after December 14th. It's the web interface that would be gone, with files, searchable message archive, etc. That's why many Yahoo groups are migrating to Groups.io.
